Langston Hughes writings on Central High School centennial, 1946 April 23-May 25.

Consists of typescript drafts and final copy of poem for the centennial of Central High School in Cleveland, Ohio, and a typescript draft of an article for his column in the Chicago Defender regarding his visit to Cleveland. "Centennial: Central High School, 1846-1946" was written at the request of Miss Helen M. Chesnutt and the Central High School Centennial Committee to be read at the reunion on 10 May 1946. Includes four drafts of the poem and the final version inscribed "Langston Hughes, New York City, April 24, 1946." The draft of "Cleveland--A good town" for Hughes' "Here to Yonder" column in the Chicago Defender describes his return to the high school he attended in Cleveland.
